Computer manufacturer
Acer has begun selling its first 3D
laptop in the UK. The Aspire 5738DZG is being sold on Amazon for £546 including delivery. The laptop
PC has a CineCrystal 1366x768 TFT display which integrates TriDef 3D technology, with Acer claiming the PC has a special 3D layer which allows the LCD technology to deliver 3D capabilities. The viewing content does not need to be 3D to be visible in 3D, as the laptop can convert 2D content into 3D.
The laptop is accompanied by 3D polarized glasses, described by Acer as ‘sporty and stylish’. There is also a clip-on version for those who already wear glasses. No information is offered about the cost of extra glasses for other users.
Many commentators have voiced their surprise at the relatively low cost of the
notebook given its 3D capabilities. The
laptops other features are comparable to other
notebooks of the same price. The notebook has a Pentium Dual Core T4300 processor, 4GB RAM, a 500GB
hard disk drive, a
DVD writer, a
webcam and
Windows 7 Home Premium. Integrated
WiFi ensures users can access the
internet on the move.
