September 09, 2010

Philips have revealed their fitness geared MP3 player that will be in direct competition with the recently released iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano and iPod Touch . The IFA conference in Berlin has revealed numerous gadgets to the wider world. Samsung official unveiled their competitor to the iPad, the Samsung Galaxy Tab and now Philips have unveiled their fitness MP3 player that always keeps you company when you're on your toes.

The benefit of the Philips Activa is that it's not just a MP3 player it is also a gadget that keeps track of your fitness progress and keeps you motivated with vocal feedback and picks songs with a tempo that match your workout. This really is the solution to Nike+ and an iPod, Apple have got another front to defend.

The Philips Activa keeps record of what you're doing whether that's running, rowing or even cycling and will read out your progress to motivate you and tell you how you're doing. However, the best part of this is the TempoMusic, a feature that analyses the music stored on the device and selects those songs with a tempo that meet the speed you're working out at.

Furthermore, another great feature of this workout companion is that you can connect this to the bundled PC software and it will let you know your progress and caloric burn rate.

However, the release date and price, even though rumoured to be around £85 ($130), for this nifty little gadget has not yet been confirmed we will keep track of progress and update as soon as possible.
