Asus Eee Pad Transformer Tab Delayed Until June

April 18, 2011

Those waiting to get their hands on the new Eee Pad Transformer tablet from Asus will have to wait a couple of months longer following the news that the device’s UK release date has been pushed back to the start of June.

Asus previously announced the Eee Pad Transformer would arrive in the UK on April 6, but the release date was put back last week to April 18 (today).

However, online retailer Amazon has now changed its shipping date for the tablet/laptop hybrid device to June 1.

Asus says that limited initial stock of the Eee Pad Transformer did actually reach the market but adds that the units sold out faster than expected.

A statement on the company’s Facebook page reads: "Due to the fact the initial demand has been far beyond our expectations, the first two-three batches have entirely all sold out much quicker than we had planned."

"Please accept our sincere apologies for the difficulties encountered with the availability of our Eee Pad Transformer ."

The Eee Pad Transformer is a 10.1-inch tablet PC with a keyboard dock . It runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb, is powered by a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and comes with a pair of cameras . The 16GB model costs £380 without the keyboard dock, and £430 with it.
