We've heard from several sources that customer service representatives at online UK retailer
Currys has been falsely claiming that
iPad 2 deliveries are on time.
Hot off the press (or phone?) is the plight we've heard of one disgruntled customer who ordered an
iPad 2 White 32GB 3G and
Wi-Fi online - where it said that Currys had stock. Having ordered it on Thursday, the customer chose date of
delivery as Tuesday (April 5th). The checkout process was completed and the payment accepted.
However, this is where the story gets a bit twisted. Our informer tells us that he received an email on Saturday telling him that his order 'may not be processed on time'. Concerned he may not get his
iPad 2
White on time, he called Currys customer services.
Amazed at having gotten through to a representative (on his third attempt), the confused purchaser asked the
customer services representative (let's just call him Agent X) if the order was still OK to be received on Tuesday. The customer services representative assured our concerned buyer that everyone was fine with the order and he should expect an
e-mail today and the items out for delivery tomorrow.
Thinking that it may be the iPad 2 holding up the order, our buyer asked the customer services representative to confirm if the order was ready to be dispatched. The representative stated that it indeed was, and if an e-mail wasn't received by 6pm, he should call again to find out what the latest on his iPad 2 and
Smart Cover was.
Funnily enough - an e-mail wasn't received at 6pm. So, our buyer called Currys once again. On calling Currys, the buyer was told that in-fact the order was certainly not going to be delivered on Tueday (5th April) and that it was the iPad 2 that was holding up the order.
We're not the least bit surprised about the iPad 2 being sold out. However, what we are amazed about is the fact that buyers are being misled (and quite frankly lied to) by companies who want people to part with their hard earned cash. Surely, they should at least be told the truth?
