The
Dell Streak 7 tablet has gone on sale in the UK with a competitive price tag of £299.
The succesor to the original 5-inch
Dell Streak features an improved 1GHz Tegra 2
dual-core processor and a larger 7-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass. It also packs front and rear
cameras,
Adobe Flash 10.1 support and 16GB of internal storage.
However, the inclusion of Google’s
Android 2.2 OS comes as a major surprise given the fact that most of the new tablets entering the market run either
Android 2.3 Gingerbread or Honeycomb 3.0.
Dell has promised that the Streak 7 will get a Honeycomb update, although when this will be is anyone’s guess right now.
The current ‘Froyo’ model is available direct from Dell for £299 (WiFi version-only). A
WiFi and
3G version of the Streak 7 is expected to be released in the UK later this spring.
