A new range of budget
tablet computers has been launched by IT firm Elonex.
Unveiled at the Gadget Show in Birmingham on Tuesday, the range consists of two 7-inch
Android tablets – the Etouch 760ET and the Etouch 702ET – and four 10-inch devices - the Etouch Blade 1000ET, 1044ET, 1040ET and 1043ET.
The cheapest model is the Etouch 760ET which costs just £119 and is available to buy now, while the Etouch 702ET has a price tag of £179 and goes on sale later this month.
Both
tablets run Google's
Android 2.2 operating system, although the cheaper 760ET comes with a resistive touchscreen instead of the capacitive touchscreen found on the 702ET.
The quality of the touchscreen display is also one of the main differences between the 10-inch models. The 1000ET has a resistive touchscreen, making it the cheapest out of the four; the 1044ET has a progressive touchscreen; and the 1040ET and 1043ET have capacitive touchscreens.
Features of the top-of-the-range Etouch 1043ET include an A8 ARM processor,
3G and
Wi-Fi connectivity, a front facing
camera and a
SD card slot.
The 10-inch Elonex tabs are scheduled to be released in the UK next month with prices starting from £149.
