Intel is now testing
technology that could help keep your
car protected. The
app could potentially capture
video footage if a thief made off with it or could alert you if your parked
car was hit by another driver.
The car sends updates to your
phone every time anything hits or shakes your parked car. More importantly live video is
streamed to the
app on your phone.
The technology is being worked on at chipmaker Intel's research labs in Santa Clara, California. The new technology links the
electronics inside a car to the
internet so that
mobile apps can provide a car owner with numerous updates on the vehicle.
The technology that is still in development involves installing an
Intel custom
circuit board with
Atom mobile processors that then interfaces with the electronics of the car and then connects the car to a
cloud server over a
mobile network.
At the moment
apps have been developed for
Android and
Apple phones. The apps can be used for just about everything, from opening the car door to even starting the car. However, in terms of
security it will alert and send you a video stream every time the motion sensors of alarms of the car are triggered.
