Amazon set to release an Apple iPad rival

July 19, 2011

Amazon recently released the Amazon Kindle an e-Book reader device that was huge competition and certainly gave the iPad a run for its money considering the iPad's e-book reading abilities are certainly not great.

However, news has now started to surface that Amazon are going to release a tablet computer. Yet, why should Amazon even contemplate trying to take on the giant that Apple is. Just look at the previous competition, the Archos 9 PC Tablet, the Dell Streak and the HP Slate availed to perhaps putting a slight dent into iPad sales but honestly did not really rock the Apple boat that much.

Previous competition from the likes of BlackBerry has seen the release of the PlayBook Tablet that constantly advertises, amongst other things, that it contains flash support.

Taking all of that into consideration Apple decided to up their game and released the iPad 2, perhaps not the most revolutionary piece of technology released by Apple in the last decade but it certainly does help to keep Apple on the throne of being the tablet king.

The tablet market is certainly already crowded and numerous tablets are already running Google's Android operating system. If rumours are correct and Amazon are going to use the same operating system then it could potentially be rather difficult to distinguish the much coveted Amazon tablet from other iPad competitors.

On the other hand here at laptops.co.uk we consider Amazon to be the ideal contenders to challenge Apple's supremacy. This is certainly applicable considering the material that Amazon sells is becoming increasingly digitized and delivered online.

Furthermore Amazon already has a rather strong connection with online shoppers and this automatically gives the company a rather quick and easy way to sell their device. At the same time Amazon Prime that offers members free shipping and unlimited access to a large and constantly expanding digital video library may certainly be a plus side for buying into the Amazon tablet.

Nonetheless it seems the Apple iPad could very soon have a new competitor on the market.
