Apple and HTC go head to head over a patent infringement

July 14, 2011

Apple have recently been headlining due to the rumours surrounding the iPhone 5 and even the iPhone 6. Furthermore, Apple's iDevice software, iOS5, has been helping to keep Apple in the headlines for all the right reasons.

However, Apple are now making news not due to any revolutionary piece of technology but in a bid to protect its current technology and the future of any Apple gadgetry.

Apple has accused HTC, manufacturers of Windows and Android based smartphones, of infringing its much looked after patents. Apple has filed a complaint against the US International Trade Commission seeking an inquiry into the matter. However, HTC have denied Apple's allegations.

This is just weeks after Apple and Samsung accused one another of copying designs and technology. Apple's revolutionary products such as the iPhone and the iPad saw Apple become one of the world’s leaders in the global smartphone market, and the biggest seller of tablet PCs .

Yet, as a result of Apple's success in securing a large slice of the market the rivalry between Apple and its competitors has continued to sour.

Nonetheless, this is not the first time that Apple and HTC have been at one another. Last year Apple accused HTC of infringing almost 20 of its patents.

As a result HTC hit back and claimed that Apple was guilty of infringing patents held by the Taiwanese company. HTC went to an extent of seeking a ban on the sales of iPhones, iPads and iPods in the United States.
