No matter where our allegiances lie, with
Microsoft or
Apple, the truth of the matter is Apple is the world's largest tech company and has been since May 2010.
As expected, or unexpected considering the global economic situation, Apple's latest profits soared past expectations as a result of the sales of the
iPhone and
iPad more than doubling.
If we were to put this into simple numbers net income for Apple was around £4.6billion in just three months up to 25th June. This is an astonishing 125% higher than last year.
Even though the sales of the much loved
iPhone 4 and
iPad 2 are helping sales shoot through the roof
iPod sales are continuing to slip even with the release of the new iPod range last year that including an updated
iPod Nano, iPod Touch and
iPod Shuffle.
Recent reports have also confirmed that Lion, the new version of the
Mac OS X operating system will go on sale Wednesday. The new operating system software mimics some of the features present on the iPhone and iPad interface.
Along with all of that the new operating system for the numerous Apple
iDevices is also soon to be released. The new
iOS,
iOS5, includes the much anticipated features like the
iCloud.
Furthermore, the rumours that are surrounding the iPhone 5 seem to suggest that we could very well see a new iPhone being released at some point later this year. However, if you want to check out our iPhone 5 review then click

However, there is still some uncertainty in the Apple camp considering
HTC and Apple are in court fighting it out over a number of infringements. In addition Apple is in dispute with other technology firms like
Samsung and
Motorola over the rights to certain technology.
