The
Apple iPad is becoming a firm favourite among users of
Android smartphones, it has been claimed.
FoxBusiness.com reported on Canaccord Genuity figures, which show that even those who prefer the rivals to the
iPhone are opting for its
tablet cousin ahead of the
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1,
Motorola XOOM and other devices.
According to the research, which was carried out by Analysts Michael Walkley, Charles John and Matthew Ramsay, the high price points for tablet
applications could lock users into the iPad early, making a switch to a rival unlikely.
"Our
smartphone and
handset checks indicate
iPads are selling better to
Android smartphone users than the current Android tablets," the report reads, according to Fox.
"As a result, we argue consumers purchasing a tablet are more likely to remain in that ecosystem given higher price points for tablet applications."
It has recently been rumoured that
Apple is already working on the
iPhone 6, despite not even having released the fifth generation of handsets yet.
