The release of the
iPhone 5 could be delayed thanks to Apple's plans to make it more streamlined.
Rumours have been circulating that the new
smartphone could be even slimmer than its predecessor, but this could cause the shipping date to be deferred.
Hon Hai - the Taiwanese firm charged with manufacturing the
mobile devices - has admitted that the slender design of the
iPhone and
iPad make it hard to cram in the required
technology at any great rate.
This, it has been claimed, could mean that the September 7th release date that has been mooted might be unrealistic.
The Wall Street Journal also reported that iPhone 5 buyers can expect the device to contain an eight-megapixel
camera - an upgrade on the five-megapixel units installed in the
iPhone 4 .
It added that a source has confirmed the new version will run on Qualcomm
wireless chips - a move away from the Technologies AG versions used in the previous design.
Last month, there had been rumours circulating that
Apple would release two new
smartphones this year - the iPhone 5 and a revamped version of the iPhone 4.
