Why iPad blows competitors away

June 28, 2011

With the Galaxy Tab 10.1 set for its UK launch on August 4th, ITproPortal.com has been looking at why so many of the challengers to Apple's iPad fall short of the tablet's genius.

With 20 million sales clocked up since its release, the iPad has blown its competitors out of the water in terms of units shifted.

One reason for this, according to the tech website, could be that the non-iOS tablets are simply not meeting users' expectations.

It gave the example of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 product, which tests have shown to be incapable of running some major streaming applications.

The online resource added that there appears to be "at least a few more Android devices that cannot run the latest Netflix version properly: HTC Incredible and HTC EVO".

It highlighted ABI Research's recent survey, which showed that almost three in five (57 per cent) respondents said they would use their tablet to download TV or video content, with an even higher number simply wanting to use the device for emails and browsing.

These may be the areas that iPad's competitors have to zero in on if they are to come close to competing with the popular Apple product.

Apple also make a range of iPod media devices and is the company behind the acclaimed iPhone, which is now onto its fourth version with a fifth on the way.
