Most Britons are not that keen on buying a
tablet computer such as the newly released
iPad 2, according to new research.
A new global survey carried out by market research firm TNS found that Britain is the highest-ranked Western country for the use of social networks such as
Facebook on the go.
But despite this, it found that Brits’ interest in
tablet devices is significantly lower than the rest of Europe, with only 17 per cent interested in buying a tablet over the next six months, compared to an average of 28 per cent for the rest of Europe and 31 per cent in Asia.
According to the TNS
Mobile Life 2011 study, more than 11 million Britons regularly check
social networking sites on their
mobile handsets, with half of those doing so every day, while a further 8 million people (41 per cent) would be interested in social networking on their
phones in the future.
The research also found that of the 17 million
smartphone users in the UK, 31 per cent download
apps and 26 per cent download
games - the highest figures for any country in Europe.
