Apple has announced that
the iPad 2 will launch in the UK at 5pm on Friday (March 25) with prices starting from £399 for the 16GB version.
A press release sent out on Tuesday revealed that the basic
iPad 2 will go sale with a retail price of £399, including VAT - £30 less than the launch price of the original
iPad - while the 32GB model will cost £479 and the 64GB version will come with a price tag of £559.
Buyers that want their iPad to include both
WiFi and
3G support, as opposed to just WiFi, will have to fork out an extra £100 for each model.
Apple is preparing to launch the second-generation iPad in 25 countries around the world this week.
Stock of the device is reported to have run out in the US where sales reached 500,000 during the first weekend of its release.
"While competitors are still struggling to catch up with our first iPad, we’ve changed the game again with iPad 2", commented Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
"We’re experiencing amazing demand for iPad 2 in the US, and customers around the world have told us they can't wait to get their hands on it."
"We appreciate everyone’s patience and we are working hard to build enough
iPads for everyone."
