Apple have reportedly been testing out the performance of the A5 processor found in the
iPad 2 in their
MacBook Air laptops .
According to a report from a Japanese tech blog Macotakara, the
electronics giant has produced a prototype
MacBook Air powered by the same ARM-designed A5 chip seen in the company's
iPad 2 tablet device instead of the iCore 2 Duo processor made by long-term CPU partner
Intel .
The website adds that it saw the A5 MacBook Air being tested and claims the machine "performed better than expected".
However, it is not clear whether the prototype was running Appleās Mac
operating system, OS X Snow Leopard, or the iOS found on its
iPads,
iPhones and
iPod Touch devices.
Apple is yet to comment on the speculation.
