Toshiba will launch the newest addition to its ultra-light
laptop range, the
Toshiba Portégé Z830 Ultrabook, later this month.
Due to launch at the end of November, the 15.9mm-slim Portégé Z830 comes with a choice of
Intel Core i3 or i5 processors, a 13.3-inch HD LED display with 1,366x768 resolution and a backlit
keyboard .
Being an ultrabook, the device weighs a mere a 1.12kg, making it lighter than the similar sized 13-inch
Apple MacBook Air and
Asus Zenbook UX31E.
Other features that are not present in the
Apple and
Asus laptops include three
USB ports, one of which is USB 3.0 compatible, and a built-in native Ethernet jack - a port that is only available on competing devices via a USB adaptor.
The Portégé Z830 also comes with 128GB SSD and support for up to 6GB of RAM, HDMI-Out,
SD card slot and eight hours of battery life, which is one hour more than both the
MacBook Air and Zenbook.
Prices for the Ultrabook are expected to start at £899, excluding VAT, for the lowest-spec model Intel Core i3 processor and 128GB SSD rising to around £1320 for the top-end spec
