Laptops Thinks

At the moment the iPhone 5 is but simply a rumour. The good and the bad are just speculative and for all we know the iPhone 5 could be completely different to what we expect. However, as we saw with the iPhone 4, the rumours were not that far from the truth and the anticipated iPhone 5 would be a great match for the relase of the new iOS5.

Pros

Hopefully, the iPhone 5 will provide a solution to the problems that iPhone 4 users are encountering and as always should be a complete evolution

Cons

The complete overhaul of the design, again, may not necessarily go down with consumers and the larger screen may make the iPhone 5 harder than the iPhone 4 to fit in your pocket.

Introduction

The Apple iPhone 5, or 5G as it is thought to be named, has numerous rumours flying around about it, whether or not it will erase the antenna problems of the iPhone 4 or if it will include any ground breaking technology, we can’t be sure. However, we can investigate the rumours that are circulating.

However, from numerous sources we are gathering that there will be another complete overhaul to the design of the iPhone 5. The design is said to be just as drastic as the difference between the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4. This is according to the Wall Street Journal that seems to know a little too much about the new iPhone.

Design

Flexi-Card: There is an idea that the next generation of the iPhone could very well be as thin and as flexible as a small postcard. The iPhone could be made from a bendy AMOLED screen. However, this sounds rather impractical it makes the iPhone 5 look like part of a magicians trick rather than a practical mobile phone.

Banana-a-rama: We might conclude that the flexible iPhone 5 is rather a bizarre idea. However, Apple could very well be creating a rather retro iPhone 5. When we say retro we mean the iPhone 3G, the way that it could spin around when it was on its back. The rather flat iPhone 4 maybe easier to use then its curved predecessors but Apple may very well be bringing back the concept of the curve to the iPhone 5.

A Skinny Dream: A rather impractical idea is that the iPhone 5 could very well be paper thin. However, the first thing that comes to mind is where would the battery go? Perhaps Apple have created the technology to do such a thing. However, we find it rather unbelievable.

Homeless: A more practical rumour that is surfacing is that the beloved and iconic home button seen on the iPad, iPod and iPhone could very well be removed from the next generation of the iPhone. This would then make it possible for Apple to give the iPhone 5 a larger, 4.3inch screen. In the place of the home button would be a touch-sensitive gesture area like the one seen on the Palm Pre.

Rumour has it: There are numerous other rumours floating around including a smaller iPhone nano that is said to exist, built to ward off competition from cheaper Android handsets. However, even though the Wall Street Journal suggests that an iPhone Nano may exist other sources claim that the size of the device would not vary.

Daily News

Nonetheless, according to the Chinese Economic Daily News we are expecting the iPhone 5 to get a advancement in regards to its specification, more memory, a faster processor and more storage.

The specs are rumoured to include a 1.2GHz processor, a larger 3.7” or even a 4.0” screen rather than a 3.5” screen. Furthermore, it is said that the latest iPhone will be made from a new kind of alloy.

In the graphics department we are hearing that the iPhone 5 will get a huge boost. The GPU will be a dual-core and this could be the start of a true 1080p output for the new device.

Camera Crazy

The new iOS from Apple, iOS5, see’s an updated Camera app but could the new iPhone 5 see the inclusion of a massive 8MP camera along with a dedicated camera button. .

In Other News

According to certain sources the release of the new iPhone 5 along with the updated iOS5 could be accompanied by the release of an updated iPad 2 that will have an updated screen. In essence this primarily means the screen will be more responsive and hopefully will be easier to use. It seems that iOS5 is pointing in the same direction with the new split-keyboard feature that makes using the iPad 2 even easier. .

Release Date

An official release date has not yet be confirmed but with news of the iPhone 4S in the pipeline the release date of the iPhone 5 could very well be pushed back as a far as the fall of 2012. However, the iPhone 4S could very well just be a distraction and we could very well see the iPhone 5 being shipped in the Autumn along side the release of the iOS5. As usual we will be seeing Apple-high prices.
