Laptops Thinks

An ultra-portable laptop without a huge price tag and is a fine travel companion if you pack yourself a small portable mouse.

Laptops Price Comparison

Pros

A great design, with a good performance all at a reasonable price.

Cons

The trackpad is slightly sticky.

Introduction

The HP ProBook 5310M looks familiar that’s because it looks like an old Apple MacBook just the colours have been changed. Instead of the white and silver casing of a MacBook, HP choice all-black casing which is made from aluminium and a magnesium alloy.

The HP ProBook 5310M includes a 13.3inch, evenly lit LED-backlit widescreen display that thanks to a matte anti-glare coating is a great travel companion. The screen is as previously mentioned evenly lit, vivid, clear and crisp and is great even when working outdoors.

The laptop weighs 1.8kg which is borederline for an ultraportable laptop but is still rather light and easily portable. The keyboard does feature the chiclet style keyboard but the keys are rather close and takes time getting used to unless you fancy being plagued with numerous typos. However, once you are use to it you’ll find its rather comfortable and its even spill resistant. In addition, the touchpad doesn’t have texture at all and so finger’s do not slide around easily making it rather difficult to use.

However, the biggest downfall for such a portable laptop is its battery life lasting just mere 2.5 hours which certainly isn't fair when paying above £1,000.

In addition, the laptop includes an integrated 2megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and Wi-Fi as well as the normal plethora of ports such as mic and headphone jacks as well three USB2 ports.

However, the ProBook 5310M features a 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SP9300 CPU, 3GB RAM and a great 320GB hard drive as well as Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics which is good enough to playback your video collection.

Overall, the HP ProBook 5310M is aimed at professional business users who will be on the move even though on the edge of the ultra-portable feature it is still a great laptop for the price and is perfect 13inch laptop.
