Laptops Thinks

The Toshiba Satellite Pro S500 is rather heavy and chunky but does comes with a great range of ports, a 15.6inch screen and thanks to the comfortable keyboard this is certainly a great business companion.

Laptops Price Comparison

Pros

Great performance, great range of ports and a great comfortable screen.

Cons

Heavy and comes with a highly reflective screen.

Introduction

The Toshiba Satelitte Pro S500 is for those business users looking for a 15.6inch laptop with an impressive range of ports that comes at a decent price.

At first you’ll notice just how big and large this laptop really is and at 2.54kg it is rather hefty but then again it is manageable. Incorporated within this is a 15.6inch screen that comes with a glossy finish that is highly reflective. However, if you’re after a Toshiba laptop that comes with a better screen then the Toshiba Tecra A11 is a better bet.

However, the size of the laptop is in some ways a benefit and Toshiba have managed to fit in a numerical keypad but this has moved the keyboard slightly to the left and the enter key is half the standard side. Nonetheless, the keyboard is rather comfortable and the keys are responsive and doesn’t come with the spongy feel that plagues numerous keyboards.

The Intel Core i3-350M processor clocks at a speed of 2.1GHz and is a rather decent processor and can handle even some of the heaviest multi-taskers. However, the graphics is poor as you would expect when Toshiba have included an Intel GMA HD graphics and even though it is fine for playing HD content it fails when it comes to games unless they’re older games played in lower settings. Furthermore, the hard drive is a great 250GB hard drive and comes with 2GB RAM which is a decent specification but for a 15.6inch laptop that is rather large you would expect Toshiba to have included a bigger hard drive and atleast 4GB RAM. However, if they did the price may have very well increased.

Overall, this large and heavy laptop is the perfect business desk companion thanks to the comfortable keyboard but for the price you would want slightly more for your money.

Conclusion

The Toshiba Satellite S500 is desktop replacement, not for being taken around and about. With it being around £600, depending on whom you get it from, the Toshiba is a great laptop for a moderate price.
