Accessory Review

The TD-W8961ND Wireless N ADSL2+ Modem Router is an All-in-One device that combines the function of a high speed ADSL modem, a 4-Port 10/100Mbps NAT router and a wireless access point. It is designed to give you a one-stop solution to acquiring and sharing high-speed Internet access over a wired/wireless network.

Supports for the latest ADSL standards

Supporting the latest ADSL standards, the TD-W8961ND brings with it much higher speed than a dial-up connection.

Complying with the IEEE 802.11n standard, users will get up to 15X the speed and 5X the range of conventional 11g products. TD-W8961ND is a high speed solution that complies with IEEE802.11n standards with wireless transmission speed of up to 300Mbps. It adopt MIMO technology, has two detachable Omni directional antennas providing better wireless performance, transmission rates, stability and coverage.

However, that is just the basics there are numerous other features of this rather moderately priced wireless router. Unlike the old-school dial-up internet service, a DSL Internet connection is always on so that whenever you want to access the web you can.

Comes with free BullGuard security

Furthermore, instead of having to worry about internet security the TD-W8961ND uses NAT and SPI firewalls which inspect the contents of incoming packets before they are allowed in.

The wireless router supports access control based on MAC address, IP address, domain name or other applications such as MSN and Yahoo Messenger so administrators can establish restricted accesses policies for children or staff.

Built-in QoS engine

In addition, the router is ideal for multimedia applications as the built-in QoS engine provides various QoS policies that help prioritize Internet traffic to enable smooth streaming and lag-free online gaming.

Overall, the wireless router is easy to use with an Auto-Run CD bundled to have your network set up quickly and hassle free.

To make things even better to get started all you have to do is push the QSS button on the wireless router, then the QSS button or enter the routers PIN Code in the wireless client and you automatically have a WPA secure connection.

Conclusion

The TD-W8961ND is a 300Mbps ADSL2+ wireless router with 2 Omni-directional antennas that give you superb wireless quality for around the £30 mark. Not suitable for business, but perfect for the home.
