What is a Laptop
A laptop computer is a small and compact mobile computer, which usually weighs between 1-6 kilograms, depending on size and materials. Smaller laptops are known as notebooks.
It is worth noting that both these terms are imprecise, with laptops actually being inappropriate for one's lap due to heat and other issues, while most notebooks are not the size of typical letter or A4 paper notebook. A single main battery or an external AC/DC adapter, which can charge the battery while also supplying power to the computer itself, are usually the two methods of powering laptops.
Many computers also have a 3volt cell to run the clock and other processes in the event of a power failure. Laptops are more than capable of performing the same day-to-day tasks as a desktop PC, although for the same price you will receive less power.
Their components are very similar to their desktop counterparts, but come miniaturised and optimised for efficient power consumption and mobile usage.
Laptop screens normally consist of liquid crystal displays, and are often the main attraction. Another great factor is the built-in keyboard, with some models also coming equipped with a touchpad or a pointing stick for input, though an external keyboard or mouse can usually be attached.
