Asus unveils Dolby driven laptops

Asus today unveiled two new W2J &A7J Intel Core Duo-powered notebooks,both of which reach the required audio criteria to wear dolby badges on their electronics lapels.

The W2J which is able to provide a true Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound system, which you can play back through headphones, the laptop’s two speakers or, for a full-on but less portable experience, 5.1 speakers and enable you to burn DVD movies with proper 2-channel Dolby Digital audio .

You won’t be restricted to surround sound War of the Worlds either there’s a built-in hybrid analogue and digital tuner with a remote control for injections of daytime TV too. The spec is rounded off nicely by a Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 120GB hard-drive.

If you’re a gamer, your ears are more likely to be impressed with the A7J, which is the proud owner of a Dolby Digital Live badge.

The A7J has much the same spec, though it’s based on a lesser, Core Duo T2400 and comes with a 100GB hard drive. It also has an integrated 1.3-mega-pixel webcam, but the standout feature is Dolby Digital Live, which converts any audio source in Dolby Digital in real time, “immersing players in high-quality surround sound that puts them at the centre of the action.

Both Dolby-ists will be available from mid-April, the W2J for £2000 and the A7J for £1400
