Yotaphone has released a dual-screened smartphone into the European market.
The smartphone has a regular LCD screen on one side and an e-Ink display on the other, and will be initially available in Russia, Austria, France, Spain and Germany.
The Yotaphone runs Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2, has a 4.3-inch screen and weighs 146g. The phone has a 13 MP main camera, and a one MP front camera. The phone comes with a dual core 1.7 GHz Krait processor and is available in black or white.
Yotaphone said: “By including a second screen that uses electronic paper display technology, users have access to the information they want and need on a continual basis without having to wake up their phone. The technology also preserves smartphone battery power.”
This electronic paper display also enables the phone to be an effective e-reader as well as a smartphone.
By the end of the first quarter of 2014, the phone will be sold in 20 Commonwealth Independent States, European and Middle-Eastern markets, according to its manufacturers. The phone is expected to be available in the UK from January 2014.
