LG releases ultra light laptops

LG has announced a range of new laptops, including two which weigh less than one kilogram.

The 13Z940 Ultra PC laptop weighs in at just 980g, measures 13.6mm at its thickest point and has a 13.3-inch HD screen.

LG’s Ultra PC also boasts a feature called ‘Reader Mode’, which enables the user to “alter the background of any onscreen image to resemble paper, reducing eye-strain and energy consumption,” according to LG.

In addition, LG has announced second generation Tab-Book 2 hybrid devices which offer slide-out QWERTY keyboards hidden under the 11.6-inch touchscreen.

LG said of the models: “With a press of a button on the side of the unit, the keyboard glides smoothly out from beneath the display for immediate action.”

The flagship model 11T740 weighs 1.05kg, whereas its sister device – the 11T540 – is even lighter at 930g. They both run Windows 8.1 and have a fourth generation Intel Core i5 processor.

LG’s new laptops will be showcased at the International CES trade show in Las Vegas between January 7th and 10th.
