The number of mobile apps downloaded by consumers around the world is set to double in the next four years, as the availability of downloads improves.
This is according to a new report from eMarketer, entitled Mobile App Marketing: 10 Tactics Used by Successful App Marketers, which suggested that more choice for tech users has resulted in a boom in this area.
In May 2013, Google confirmed that one million apps and games were available in its Google Play store, which represented a 43 per cent increase from the 700,000 recorded in October 2012.
Apple also reached the same figure in October 2013. Despite the fact its growth was slower than Google’s, the increase in available apps was equally significant.
The eMarketer report also cited figures from Portio Research, which estimated the number of annual downloads would reach 200 billion in 2017, representing a significant jump from the 82 billion recorded in 2013.
