At 6pm on Monday 10 July, Amazon will be launching a huge range of deals as part of its Prime Day 2017, with some offers already being revealed.
The bargains will only be available for a 30-hour period, ending at 11:59PM on Tuesday 11 July, unlike last year when deals ran for a whole week before Prime Day. This will be the third annual Prime Day, which is very similar to November’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
As an attempt to entice shoppers, Amazon UK ‘leaked’ its first major tech deal, saying that there will be at least 30 per cent off a 43-inch Ultra HD LG smart TV.
In order to take part in the sales, you need to have an Amazon Prime subscription. If you haven’t registered before, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial, but if you forget to cancel your membership before the trial period ends you will be charged the full £79 annual fee.
If you are a student, you can get an Amazon Student Prime membership for an annual fee of £39, with the first six months being free.
Prime members can already access some deals, such as four months of Amazon Music Unlimited for £0.99.
While Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals often focus on items that are frequently given as gifts, due to them taking place just before Christmas, Prime Day tends to have a greater focus on personal items for yourself or your household.
Last year, some of the top deals were for Amazon products, such as the Amazon Fire TV Stick and Amazon Kindle Fire. This year, it is likely that the Amazon Echo will be on sale, along with other variations of the retail giant’s smart speaker.
Prime Day is a huge day for the company, who sold 90,000 TVs, 200,000 headphones and two million toys last year, boosting year-on-year Prime Day sales by 60 per cent.
Amazon Prime vice president, Greg Greeley, said: “Our members love Prime Day and we were thrilled by the response over the last two years. It is inspiring us to make it even better this year for Prime members.
“Every side of our business is working to deliver more deals for a record number of shoppers. We even decided that 24 hours in a day just isn’t enough time to shop all of the great deals, so we’re giving Prime members 30 hours to shop on Prime Day.”
Furthermore, on Prime Day there will be a teaser video of The Grand Tour season 2 for Prime members.
