The latest Intel-based MacBook Pro laptops by Apple have been upgraded with a faster processor than was originally advertised.
According to the Apple Store in the UK the notebooks come with a 1.67GHz or 1.83GHz Core Duo chip. But in the US, the Apple Store specifies 1.83GHz in the slower model and 2.0GHz in the faster model.
Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior VP of Worldwide Product Marketing said, “We are incredibly excited to start shipping the MacBook Pro, a groundbreaking new notebook with dual-processor desktop performance in a thin, sleek design. The new MacBook Pro includes even faster Intel Core Duo processors than originally announced, up to 2.16GHz, and we think customers are going to love them.”
The laptops have a 15.4 inch TFT screen with an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics with 256 MB of GDDR3 video memory. Every laptop has a 667MHz frontside and 512MB or 1GB of RAM, 80 or 100MB HDD and DVD/CD burner. The also come with a built-in iSight camera for a video chatting, Front Row software with remote control for music and video playback plus the iLife ’06 multimedia software suite.
