BT joins other ISPs in blocking access to The Pirate Bay

BT have joined a number of other UK internet service providers such as TalkTalk, Sky, O2 and Virgin in blocking access to the website, The Pirate Bay, which hosts links to priated music, movies and games.

BT blocking of the website, as with other UK ISPs, was as a result of a high court ruling in April 2012 that ordered ISPs to prevent customers accessing the website.

However, BT have gone one step further and blocked access to proxy website that were made avaliable by The Pirate Bay. Nonetheless, these proxy sites were made available within minutes of the ban and the block has in part been circumvented.
