In recent news Facebook lost their technology chief, Bret Taylor. However, Facebook are now to settle a £6million lawsuit with angry users on the way it used ‘social’ ads.

These ads are also known as sponsored stories and pop up on a user’s friends’ pages after the user ‘liked’ that specific advert.

This legal case against Facebook was opened last year after users became annoyed and concerned about their Facebook profile photo was used as part of Facebook’s sponsored stories.

However, even though the lawsuit has been settled the type of settlement ensures that £6million ends up going to charity rather than to those individuals who brought the case. Nonetheless, a judge still needs to approve the settlement.
