Google complies with government censorship

It is part of movies and TV shows that the government censors and stops information being accessed on the internet. However, internet censorship is becoming more and more apparent.

To have a further in-depth look of internet censorship we only have to turn our attention towards Google reports of more than 1,000 requests from governments around the world to remove certain items online such as YouTube videos and even search listings. Furthermore, Google actually complied with more than half of these requests. There were demands from Poland, Spain and even Canada to remove certain items online.

However, these reports do not reflect the censorship activity from countries such as China and Iran who have blocked content without even notifying Google.

More importantly it is suggested that Google removed 5 YouTube videos upon the request of UK police for they allegedly promoted terrorism. Furthermore, Google complied with 42% of US requests for removal of certain items online.
