Apple AirPods revealed at iPhone 7 launch still nowhere to be seen

Shortly after posting its worst results in 15 years after falling sales, Apple has announced that the arrival of its AirPods has been delayed.

The wireless earphones had been set for release at the end of this month, but Apple has stated that the products aren’t ready to be sold. The innovative earphones were announced alongside the new iPhone 7, with the two supposed to signal the ‘new future’ for the company, and technology as a whole.

“The early response to AirPods has been incredible. We don’t believe in shipping a product before it’s ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers,” said a spokesperson for Apple.

Apple has not confirmed the reason for the delay, with no information provided on what problems the AirPods are experiencing. Some early versions of the AirPods have already been given to journalists, although none have reported any issues at this stage.

The decision to delay the launch of the intriguing £159 wireless headphones comes the day after Apple reported its first decline in annual sales and profit in 15 years.
