A new portable laptop external monitor has been introduced by HP.
The manufacturer announced buyers can now get their hands on the HP U160 product, which is a display that can be connected to a computer to provide additional viewing space, Pocket Lint reports.
However, the add-on is being promoted for use among commercial customers – such as those using their laptop to share presentations – as opposed to everyday consumers wanting to enjoy a bigger screen.
The product is powered by USB and therefore requires a full-sized USB port, while it comes with a double USB lead to reduce power drain.
Users will benefit from a 15.6-inch backlit LED monitor, which boasts a resolution of 1,366 x 768 and is rated at 180-nit.
The success of portable external monitors might therefore be dependent on how many people choose a laptop as their number one work device and whether or not the larger screen space proves beneficial to the tasks they are required to perform.
It remains to be seen, however, whether the products will have a marked impact in the consumer space.
