Microsoft have finally announced the Windows 8, their next operating system, will be released on 26 October.
Microsoft have suggested that Windows 8 has been given the most important redesign for more than a decade.
The confirmation of the launch date of Windows 8 was made just after Microsoft had to come to terms with losing money over the take over of Aquantive.
Windows 8 includes touch screen controls as well as the usual and more traditional desktop interface.
The operating system is also part of a bid to try to enter the tablet market. The Apple iPad has for now kept the monopoly, however, the likes of Amazon’s Kindle Fire and now the Google Nexus 7 have started to loosen this grip.
Microsoft are hoping that they will also be able to enter the tablet market with an operating system that is the same for tablets and computers. As a result Microsoft have taken a giant leap and have announced their own tablet’s dubbed ‘Surface’.
