Tony Neate, managing director of Get Safe Online – a national internet security awareness scheme – said it is good to see that customers will be able to benefit from this option.
Mr Neate stated: “For anyone who is a little bit nervous about being on the internet then additional security can be provided by their internet service provider.”
He explained it is advantageous for web users to take on this extra protection, but warned people need to be aware of the potential threats their computer might face.
Individuals might therefore want to remain vigilant when opening emails purporting to be from particular organisations, while they should also be wary about visiting potentially dangerous websites.
Mr Neate warned security measures from internet service providers might not always be able to defend against this kind of attack, which is why people need to make sure they are aware of the threats out there.
