Acer reveals new Chromebook details

Acer is promising longer battery life and faster performance with its new C270 Chromebook.

The company has boasted that its latest product is 30 per cent thinner than its predecessor and it also benefits from a new Haswell micro-architecture-based Intel processor.

John Miedema, the director of product marketing at Acer Europe, said: “The Acer C720 is a significant step forward for our highly-acclaimed Acer Chromebook line, as it delivers speedy performance, quick boot times, a matte anti-glare display and a slimmer design that is portable enough for anywhere use.”

A boot time of less than seven seconds is mooted, with battery life expected to last for around eight-and-a-half hours. In terms of performance, the laptop offers a Intel Celeron 2955U processor, which Acer says results in a “noticeable boost”.

It also had an 11.6-inch HD display and weighs 1.3 kg – making it easier to be stored and carried in a backpack. The starting price for the C720 laptop is €249 (£211) and the model will be available to buy in the UK, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Germany, Finland and the Netherlands from the end of October.
