The new line of festive themed phone cases from FLAVR are as useful as they are creative. They offer a decent level of protection, as well as very entertaining and visually impressive designs.
The only drawback here is that the cases have no screen protection, and can only really be used in the Christmas period.
- Excellent designs
- Vibrant colours
- Fairly standard protection
- No screen protection
- Hard to use long-term
The Christmas cases come in 12 styles and include cases such as the “I want to believe” case (for X-files fans) a “(s)elfie” case and a “do the dab” case. All of these are visually striking and very pleasing to the eye, with vibrant colours and a ‘knitted’ art style.
The case itself is made from a flexible plastic, but is more protective than this might sound. The case fits onto the back of the case, and does not cover the front, but offers a fair amount of impact protection (provided that your phone doesn’t drop screen first).
The case does its job well, offering protection for falls up to around 2m. The protection given greatly outweighed my initial predictions, as I thought due to its flexible material it would be lacking in sturdiness. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not going to stop your phone from smashing should it fall from a great height or at high speeds, but for daily use it’s more than sufficient.
The FLAVR cases fit very nicely onto the phone, offering a snug fit without encroaching on ease of use and is very easy to remove and put on.
The only downside is that some people may not want to pay out for a product that can only really be used for a few weeks, and will become redundant following the end of the Christmas period.
At the time of writing, the case is available for £7.49 from Carphone Warehouse. This is a very good price, especially as it is hugely reduced compared to other places – I’ve seen prices as high as £25.
On the whole the FLAVR cases are very impressive, both stylistically and practically, but they aren’t the most protective.
While they really are excellent designs, you probably won’t want to use it after Christmas is finished. That said, you can get it out each winter!
