Digg, the news aggregator website, has been sold to the New York technology group Betaworks. Digg announced the merge with the New York technology group on their blog and commented that it would be combined with the daily briefing service News.me.
Digg allows users to submit and vote on news stories, which in turns ensures their ranking on its site. The move was much anticipated as Digg lost traffic to competitors last year but had been staging a second phase of their comeback after releasing a Facebook app
Digg became famous after links to images taken from the mobile of Paris Hilton were posted on the site during 2004. Since then it has grown to become of the 100 most visited sites on the internet.
