Apple to see further iPad sales growth

Michael Walkley of Canaccord Genuity has predicted the manufacturer will offload 101.6 million of the tablets over the 12-month period, which will build on the 100 million purchases seen in the two and a half years since its release, Apple Insider reports.

Mr Walkley explained this rise will be boosted by the introduction of the iPad mini.

Such growth would result in Apple commanding 58.4 per cent of the overall tablet market, while the expert also forecast Amazon will sell 10.7 million devices in 2013 and Samsung is likely to ship 8.4 million.

With regard to smartphones, Mr Walkley predicted the iPhone will be snapped up by 193.9 million people, while Samsung handset sales are likely to reach 303.6 million during the 12-month period.

Such uptake would see the two phone giants accounting for more than 50 per cent of the smartphone market, with Huawei expected to be the next biggest seller with a projected 47.9 million shipments.
