Google Nexus 7 claims tablet of the year accolade

The device beat off competition from high-profile competitors such as the Apple iPad, Asus Transformer Pad Infinity, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Sony Xperia S Tablet to claim the accolade at the Stuff Gadget Awards 2012.
Judges praised the tablet for its value for money offering, as the Nexus 7 comes in at less than half the price of the cheapest of Apple’s newest alternatives at only around £160.
Moreover, the device features a seven-inch HD screen and bump-resistant build, as well as receiving the latest Android OS updates first thanks to its status as a Google-branded product.
The publication said: “For the first time, a sub-£200 tablet is a viable alternative to the mighty iPad – and for that we salute you, Nexus 7.”
Other positive attributes of the Nexus include its NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, ten-finger multi-touch screen and smart keyboard with Gesture Typing technology.
