The iPhone 5 has not yet been released in the UK. However, as of midnight on Friday, which means 8am here, the new model announced itself in the US.
Now, you may have caught whispers of how the iPhone 5 is nothing special, it’s just a glorified iPhone 4S. Well, think what you may, for Apple’s initial stock sold out in just 1 hour.
What is more impressive is that the iPhone 4 took 20 hours to sell out and the iPhone 4S took 22 hours to sell out.
The USA has really ensured Apple’s success with this latest iPhone as AT&T announce that the iPhone 5 has set a new record.
Well what is all the fuss about? It beats me, the device offers only slight improvement on the iPhone 4S.
The iPhone 5 is 18% thinner, 20% lighter and runs twice as fast as the iPhone 4S. The screen is 0.5inches longer diagonally and the cameras has been upgraded to support features such as low-light mode and panorama.
Oh, not to forget, the iPhone 5 is Apple’s first smartphone able to support 4G with EE, the parent company of Orange and T-Mobile, Britain’s only compatible network due to begin operating within the next few weeks.
