US government at risk due to outdated versions of Android

The report by the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI indicates that Google’s operating system for mobiles is particularly vulnerable to cyber-attacks due to its open source structure.
The report indicated that 79% of malware attacks are made to Android users. However, this is unsurprising considering that Android accounts for 79.3% of the global market.

The report consistently reiterates the fact that the growing use of mobile devices by US government officials must be accompanied by regular software updates. This is, of course, in order to shorten the risk of malware attacks.

Apple and Microsoft users can relax considering that they were the target of less than 1% of total malware threats.
