Toshiba has announced a five-in-one hybrid laptop concept.
At the Consumer Electronics Show, it showcased the device, which boasts five different modes of use.
As well as the laptop mode, there are canvas, tablet, presentation and convertible tablet ones. These are all possible due to a custom motherboard tucked inside the large base that doubles up as an extended keyboard deck.
The canvas mode sees the model, which comes with a stylus, flipped 270 degrees to make drawing easier. The keyboard can be completely detached for the tablet mode, while the base is folded back. When the device is configured for presentations, the base becomes a stand for viewing media. The convertible tablet mode is achieved by folding the attached keyboard 360 degrees.
Toshiba’s hybrid device appears to have two USB ports, a micro SD card slot, micro HDMI-out, a proprietary power input and a headphone jack.
While the product was only available to view through a glass booth, its manufacturer states it is already functional and not merely a mock-up. It is not known when the hybrid device will hit the shelves, or at what price it will retail.
