Huawei uses Siri to advertise its new smartphone

Huawei has used Apple’s personal assistant function to create excitement about its new smartphone.

In a promotional video, an unseen man asks Siri various questions on his iPhone. The automated assistant reveals various new products that Huawei is planning on launching at the Mobile World Congress (MWC).

One of the products is a new smartphone, which is said to have “an amazing front camera”.

This is expected to be the rumoured Ascend P7 device, a follow-up to the Ascend P6 that was launched in 2013. It is expected to have a five-inch screen, a 1.6Ghz processor with 2GB of RAM and a front-facing eight-megapixel camera.

While incorporating Apple’s flagship smartphone might seem like a questionable move, it is certainly a novel way of enticing technology lovers.

The advert finishes with Siri saying: “It looks like Huawei is ready to amaze the world again.”

Huawei also boasts two new tablets in the promotional video. The first will have a “huge battery” and “beautiful slim design”, while the second will focus on entertainment consumption.

Barcelona will host the MWC between February 24th and 27th, where many new products are expected to be unveiled.
