Tech giant Apple is planning to release a new model of its TV set-up box, according to Bloomberg.
The business website has revealed that Apple is currently negotiating with Time Warner Cable as well as other potential partners.
An announcement on the device is set to be made in April with a release slated for the Christmas period of 2014.
These dates could change, however, as any potential agreement with programming and distributing partners has not yet been met.
A faster processor than its predecessor is expected in the new product, as is a new interface that will make it easier for users to navigate.
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has already announced that the company will introduce a host of new products this year, with a smartwatch reportedly being considered.
Its current TV box can access a limited number of live channels including ABC, Disney and ESPN, but an agreement with Time Warner, or any other potential distributors, would mark a significant step into the TV market.
Both California-based Apple and New York company Time Warner declined to comment on the rumours.
