First Impressions of the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus

The latest release by Galaxy has graced the hands of journalists, with a hands-on review. Journalists have spent time with the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and establishing a first impression.

No Physical Differences

In terms of physical design, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus doesn’t exhibit any major changes when compared to the S8. If anything, the latest additions by Samsung look remarkably like the S8 Plus. Nevertheless, the S9 Plus has 6.2-inch curved ‘infinity’ display whilst the smaller version has a 5.8-inch display. The dramatic nature of the phone screen is exactly what sets the S8 apart from the competition, therefore it is unsurprising that Samsung have kept this feature.

Improved Camera Features

Both new Samsung Galaxy models boast an improved 12MP camera, with a f/1.5 maximum aperture. This mobile camera is the first of its kind and allows the S9 Plus to function in low-light and high-sound levels. So, for those who love to use their phone-camera at music performances, this may be an excellent development.

Remaining on the subject of cameras, the S9 Plus has a rear, dual-camera lens with the same capabilities as 2017’s Note 8 model. Videos can also be captured in super-slow-motion video at 960 frames per second and have an 8MP front-facing camera.

The Samsung Galaxy is Based on Customer Feedback

Customer reviews of last year’s S8 headsets haven’t gone unheard. The offset rear finger print sensor has been moved to a centre-aligned position. Phone users can also unlock the device through facial recognition and iris scanning.  A significant complaint from S8 Plus users concerned sound quality. In response, Samsung have given their latest handsets stereo speakers for excellent sound quality.

Samsung’s new features sound very similar those found on the Apple iPhone X and the Google Pixel 2. Indeed, Samsung can easily match what Apple have released, but with a larger screen and with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Although it is set to be expensive, the Samsung S9 Plus is rumoured to be the best android phone, (until the debut of the Galaxy Note 9, that is).

The public can pre-order the phone from the 26th of February, with the official release date set at the 16th of March.
