The professional services firm polled more than 2,200 consumers on what their favourite piece of technology was.
More than a quarter (28 per cent) of respondents scored their laptop computer as their preferred device, compared to 22 per cent who favoured their TV.
In third place was the desktop PC, which claimed 19 per cent of respondents’ preference, followed by smartphones with 10 per cent of the vote.
The study also found that the number of people owning tablets more than doubled from 1.3 million in 2010 to 3 million in 2011, highlighting the soaring popularity of tablet devices, particularly among 35–44 year olds.
In terms of the most popular new technological feature desired by respondents, 42 per cent highlighted the ability to transfer music, TV shows, films and similar content between devices and platforms (i.e. Cloud-based solutions).
