EE receives the most landline and broadband complaints

The regulator Ofcom has revealed that the phone and broadband provider which had the most complaints made against it was EE, whilst Virgin Media received the fewest.

Ofcom’s report was based on data gathered from April to December in 2014, and found that the UK’s biggest mobile operator had to face the most complaints. These included complaints about service problems, provision problems, faults, switching providers and also how complaints were actually handled.

For every 1,000 customers, EE received 0.42 complaints, the most in the industry. BT, TalkTalk, PlusNet and Post Office HomePhone also received a higher-than-average number of complaints.

Not only this, but for pay-monthly mobile services, EE again received the most complaints during 2014, except for the last quarter when Vodafone received more complaints than EE.

For mobile firms, Tesco received the fewest complaints.

“We have a comprehensive programme in place to improve service and reduce complaints – and this is borne out by the Ofcom data from last year,” said EE. “We know there is more work to do. Through our ongoing, significant investment we want to continue improving, allowing us to deliver the best customer service in the industry.”

BT, already the UK’s largest broadband provider, is set to acquire EE once its £12.5bn deal is approved by regulators. The firms are already partners but BT intends to purchase EE outright. No further information regarding the purchase will be released until it is complete however.
