New MacBook Pro models are cheaper and more powerful

Apple has announced details about its latest MacBook Pro laptops.

The models were revealed at an event yesterday (October 22nd), which also showcased the company’s new operating system – OS X Mavericks.

All of the laptops feature both a new processor and a new price – coming in cheaper than their predecessors by $200 (£123).

Both the 13-inch and 15-inch models offer the latest Intel Haswell processors, which will give it better energy efficiency and processing power.

Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice-president of worldwide marketing, said: “We’ve made the world’s best pro notebook even better by adding more performance and even longer battery life.”

Batteries are expected to last for nine hours with the 13-inch device before needing to be recharged – even when it is used to constantly play videos.

It also benefits from 128GB of hard drive space and 4GB of RAM.

The 15-inch model’s battery lasts for eight hours, while users can also opt for a Nvidia GeForce 750M graphics card.

Both of the new MacBook Pros also come with retina displays and are lighter and thinner than previous models
